Food is very important to us as and are the primary source of energy. However, we cannot eat what we want at any time. It is a common practice to mix food. People mix yogurt with fruits and cheese with vegetables and meat. These are popular and common practice carried around the globe. Because of our busy life we are not able to give attention to what we eat.
Hunger makes us eat whatever comes into our mind. There are some food combinations which is extremely harmful to your health. They can hinder your digestive system and lead to stomach issue, nausea, fatigue and gastritis among others.
People mix food differently because of the taste but they don’t know that it could hamper their body severely. Only with the right combination of food that you can achieve weight loss and stay energetic throughout the day. If you keep on eating the wrong food combinations for a long time, it can result in rashes, chronic digestion problems and bad breath.
What are bad food combinations?
The digestive properties of foods differ from one another. It is not the same for every food. One food is easy to digest while the other is not. Combining foods that are acidic and the other which is alkaline is not a good combination. This unpairing of different pH level of food makes the digestion difficult.
1) Don’t mix two high protein foods
One of most popular combination of breakfast is egg and bacon. It is advised to discontinue this combination. They are high in protein and cause discomfort to the stomach. It also takes longer time to digest them. One should eat light protein and then move forward to high.
2) Water and food
There are many people who drink water with their meals. It is not good for health. As we drink water with our meal, it dilutes the acid in the stomach. Due to this dilution, the food does not get easily digested. One can drink water half an hour before the meal as it prevents overeating. Or they can drink in an hour after their meal which is good for health.
3) Mixing milk with banana
Banana shake are common in every household because of the taste it carries with it. But being a heavy drink, one is advised to avoid this food. One become lethargic because of it. Banana shake is heavy and not easily to digest.
4) Fruits with meal
Fruits are easy to digest but the meal we eat takes time to digest. So, if we mix fruit with meal it, our stomach will first digest the meal and then fruits. So, by the time your meal gets digested, fruits retain in the stomach. So, the best time to eat fruits is before breakfast. At that time fruits get easily digested before your meal time.
5) Beer with nuts
It is a common trend drinking beer with nuts. Nuts are salty. So, when you eat nuts, you become thirsty and drink more beer. First of all, beer is making you dehydrated and, on the top, you are having nuts which will make it more. This will eventually lead you to weight gain which include a belly too. So, these two are not a healthy combination to carry on.
6) Pizza with carbonated drinks
Pizza is high in fat which in fact is unsaturated. Diets with unsaturated fats can put you heart at higher risk level. They have high content of salt and spices which makes them difficult to digest. As we know that after having salty food, we feel thirsty. Salts leads to water retention and can lead to weight gain. If you have hypertension, then these salts can have an effect on your blood pressure too. Having these two items together can lead to carb overload.
7) Sweets with alcohol
When alcohol is concerned most people try to avoid some foods. One such combination of sweet with alcohol can have harmful effect on your body. Alcohols tend to convert sugars into saturated fats, which easily get accumulated in the body. Eating some fruits or vegetables is a better choice.
8) Fries and burger
This is a common commination found to be served in many restaurants. The fires are deep fried as well as the burger patty. These two make the blood sugar level very low. And because of this low blood sugar level a person feels tired and lethargic.
9) White bread with Jam
This combination is considered to be the quickest breakfast. Before going to school or for work most people have this. It not the healthiest. It’s a bad combination because of its low content of protein and fat and high in carbs. This is because the sugar in jam provides a person energy for an hour or so. But when it wears down you feel hungry.
For a quick energy boost it is recommended but for a longer duration you will feel hungry. You can switch the jam with peanut butter with a whole grain bread. Because our digestive system will turn the white bread into sugar which will not keep you full for the whole day.
10) Combination of dairy products with non-veg
You should avoid having dairy products after having any non-veg item. The reason behind this is that the milk cools our body and the meat heats our body. If consumed together, it may cause the release of several energies together and can be harmful and may trigger allergies in the body.
11) Cereal with juice
Most people have juice with their breakfast cereal. But it not true that these combinations will give you the required energy to move along. The acidic nature of orange juice will hinder the breaking of carbohydrates by intervening the enzyme activity. So, if you want to have juice and cereal in your breakfast, you can have the juice much before your breakfast.
12) Citrus fruits with milk
Milk takes longer to digest and when we have milk with any other citrus fruit, the milk coagulates. This further lead to gas and heat burn. And can cause gastritis in some people which can be severe to normal. Some people are lactose tolerant, which means they aren’t able to digest the lactose present in milk.
12) Chips and salsa
Chips are mostly half or fully fried. They are crunchy and become a perfect combination with salsa. Chips are highly in processed carbohydrates that break down into sugar and gives you an energy boost. This energy does not last longer and you feel hungry and starts having some food again. This combination is dangerous for weight loss.
There are several food combinations that can harm our body. Every person has different types of bodies, food sensitivities and food allergies. In general, it is best to keep your meal as simple as you can and eat food that are high in nutrients but low in calories. In this way you can save yourself from hunger all the time and cut back on weight gain over time. So, it’s vital for us to listen to our body and eat correct food combinations accordingly.
